Dear Rocky Mountain Families, 

Our first day of school is just around the corner and teachers have been hard at work setting up their classrooms and preparing for student learning. Below you'll find everything you need to get ready for the first day of school on August 11th.

Important Dates

• August 10: RME Back to School Open House, 3:00–5:00pm
• August 11: First Day of School for ALL students
  • 1st Bell: 7:45am
  • School Begins: 7:50am
  • School Dismisses: 2:35pm
• September 7: No School (Labor Day)
• September 8: No School for Students (Staff PL Day)

Morning Arrival

Students arrive at school in many ways - by bus, on foot, after parking nearby with family, or through our Hug & Go drop-off lane. Whatever your morning routine, please help keep arrival safe and efficient by following traffic procedures, using designated crosswalks, and watching for students, families, and staff. Thank you for working together to ensure everyone has a safe, positive, and on-time start to the school day! 

 

Morning Entry Routine

• Kindergarten and 1st Grade - Line up in designated grade-level spots near main entrance doors (visual)
• 2nd-5th Grades - Line up in designated grade-level spots outside of the cafeteria doors (visual)

 

Hug and Go

For families who choose to use the Hug & Go lane, please take a moment to review our detailed traffic flow map  and guidelines before our first day of school.

For the safety of all students, staff, and families, please follow the guidelines below during drop-off and pick-up:

• Follow Staff Directions: Drivers must follow the directions of Rocky Mountain staff at all times to ensure a safe and efficient process for everyone.
• Bus Lane Reminder: The bus lane utilizes the outside lane of traffic (closest to the school) and is reserved exclusively for school buses. Cars are not permitted in the bus lane until all buses have exited the parking lot. Please be patient and wait for staff direction before entering this lane to ensure the safety of students loading and unloading buses.
• Stay in Your Vehicle: Drivers must remain in their vehicles while in the Hug and Go lane. Our staff will assist children getting in and out of vehicles if needed. Please say your goodbyes before arriving at school.
• Pull Forward: Pull as far forward as possible in the Hug and Go lane to allow more cars to enter and reduce backups.
• Curbside Exit Only: For safety, students should exit the vehicle on the curb side only. This prevents children from stepping into traffic.
• No Double Parking: Double parking is strictly prohibited. It blocks traffic flow and creates unsafe conditions for students and drivers.
• Drive Slowly: Please drive slowly and stay alert for children crossing.

 

Free and Reduced Benefits

If a student or family has an urgent need for items such as food, hygiene products, clothing, school supplies, or similar essentials, please reach out directly to our Family Outreach Liaison - Lupe Lopez, 720-972-3500.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out - support is available.
