RME One Book One School Reading Schedule and Recordings

It's our favorite time of year! It is time for One Book One School!

We have once again chosen to participate in the ONE BOOK ONE SCHOOL program through an organization called Read to Them to foster a culture of literacy in every student’s home.

“A Boy Called Bat” by Elana K. Arnold is the book that we will be reading. We read the first chapter together as a school yesterday! Each night we encourage families to read at home! Every student has received a copy of the book and we have also purchased Spanish copies for families that prefer to read in their native language! We have created a bookmark for each student with our reading schedule. 

The heart of this program is based on the fact that the ENTIRE school participates in a common activity, which is to read the same book. The other part of this program--which is just as important--is that the book will be read at home as a read aloud by their parents, grandparents, older siblings or other guardians. Students can also access and listen to the text online. We have staff that have read the chapters aloud and those recordings can be found on our school website at rocky.adams12.org.

The program will run from April 8- May 10th. During this time, students will be reading at home and then sharing their reading experiences with other students at school. Each week, RME staff will record the assigned chapters and students and families have the option to listen to the recorded chapters if they'd like. Check back each week for updated recordings.

We will have a culminating Family Night to celebrate our community reading and the book on Thursday, May 16th! We hope you enjoy the story!
