Greetings! My name is James Kohlbrenner and I am excited to be the physical education teacher at Rocky Mountain Elementary for my fourth year. I am a graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Sport Sciences with a specialization in physical education. I have a master’s degree in Health and Wellness Education and another master’s degree in Educational Leadership that will be completed this Fall. I will then be starting the coursework for a doctoral degree in Public Health Education this Winter. I have received an endorsement to teach adapted physical education and a personal trainer/fitness counselor certification from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. I have taught physical education for 18 years in elementary and middle schools and have been coaching various youth athletics for over 10 years. When I am not at school, I enjoy serving the community as the President of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable corporation called HELPCO.
The physical education program is designed so that all students will learn about the benefits of fitness and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The lessons are based on the standards set by the state for each grade level and our student needs. I will offer a variety of sports clubs that will give your child an opportunity to have more access to activities that supplement what is learned in the physical education class. More information will be sent home regarding the free after school activities in September. There will also be a field day in May to showcase what was learned during the school year. This is going to be a great year for your child at Rocky Mountain Elementary.
I look forward to seeing you at one of our school's many events. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the year.
