Hello all. My name is Caitlin Hoffert, but you can call me Caity! I am a graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania where I matriculated in May of 2017 with a Bachelors of Music in music education on voice and minors in jazz studies and music history. More recently, I graduated from Temple University with a Masters of Music in music education in August of 2020. I have been a certified music educator teaching in a school setting for four years. However, in school year 2020-2021, I did spend time teaching 5th grade and became certified to teach general elementary education as well. Because of this, I am even more excited to return to the music classroom this year where I can apply my broader knowledge of elementary pedagogy to my one true passion - music education!
Rocky Mountain Elementary's music program will be structured around student-centered learning and will draw from a multitude of music education pedagogies such as Kodaly, Orff, and Dalcroze. In simpler terms - I believe that music is meant to be learned by doing, making, and enjoying, and that is how lessons will be crafted and standards will be taught. In addition, outside of day to day learning, our music program will also offer after school opportunities in the form of clubs and ensembles. Further information on these extracurriculars will be communicated in September.
I look forward to making music with each and every musician at Rocky Mountain Elementary this year! If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, feel free to contact me at any time.
